It is believed that around 3,794 beauty contests are held in Colombia each year most of them to promote food and agricultural goods. The objectification of which women are victims in beauty pageants is a type of symbolic and psychological violence that dresses up in glamour and jewelry and ends up paving the way to a culture in which other types of explicit sexual violence are normalized*. This is a series of photographs that explore the aesthetization of the continuum of sexual violence using irony to problematize beauty contests. The project is intended to be presented in an installation and will also be hosted on a digital platform.

*The first part of the project was developed in the seminar Violent images with Prof. Eva Leithoff Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule WS19/20.
